Liquid Treatment / Soil Injection

Liquid treatment (also known as “soil treatment,” “soil injection,” or “barrier control”) is a proven method for subterranean termite control. It involves injecting liquid termiticide in key areas around the exterior perimeter of your home or structure, either directly into the soil or through small holes drilled around the foundation. This forms an underground chemical barrier that kills termites and stops them from invading your property.

• At MMPC, we use a revolutionary non-repellent termiticide that is undetectable and unavoidable to termites, unlike traditional liquid termite controls which rely on repellent barriers that termites learn to detect and avoid.
• Termites come into contact with the slow-acting chemical and spread it to other termites that they encounter (a process known as the “transfer effect”), leading to the gradual extermination of the entire colony.
• Following treatment, clients are covered under our termite warranty, which guarantees that MMPC will treat any reinfestation during the warranty period at no extra cost.

Wood Treatment

We recommend wood treatment alongside a liquid soil treatment in order to eradicate existing termite infestations in targeted areas, or as a preventative measure to protect exposed wooden components from further damage.

• Our licensed technician applies a pressurized injection of termiticide into small holes drilled into wooden beams, rafters, and other areas with exposed wood.
• Termiticide can be injected directly into termite galleries within the wood, maximizing effectiveness while minimizing the amount of chemical used.
• This is sometimes the best option for structures with construction features that interfere with soil treatments, such as plenums, heating ducts, drainage systems, and inaccessible crawl spaces.

Bait Stations

Installing, monitoring, and refilling bait stations is another proven method we use to control termites. While this type of service is more often preventative in nature, it can be used in conjunction with our liquid soil treatments as an extra layer of protection.

• Bait stations for subterranean termite are small, cylindrical devices planted directly into the soil around the perimeter of your home.
• We check the stations 3 times a year to monitor for termite activity and refill the station as needed.

When do I need a termite inspection?

Most of the inspection requests we get fall under these 3 common scenarios:

1. You need an annual inspection during the spring as a preventative measure against potential termite activity.
2. You notice signs of termites in or around your home, such as termite swarmers, discarded wings, mud tubes on exterior walls, damaged or hollow-sounding wood, and stuck windows or doors (a common result of termite damage).
3. You need a WDI report as part of the process of buying, selling, or refinancing a home.

What do termites look like?

Termites are small, soft-bodied insects that come in various sizes and colors depending on their caste:

• Workers make up the majority of a termite colony. They are blind and wingless, with long, narrow bodies. Termite workers are similar in size to household ants (about 1/8″ to 1/4″ long) but you can easily tell them apart by their pale white coloration, broad waists (not pinched), and straight antennae (not elbowed).
• Soldiers are similar to workers in size and appearance, except they have enlarged, orange-brown heads with long, pincer-like jaws.
• Swarmers (alates), which emerge in the spring, have narrow, dark-colored bodies with 2 pairs of long, translucent wings. They are commonly mistaken for flying ants.

Do termites fly?

Only adult reproductive termites (also called swarmers or alates) can fly. Swarmers are active during the spring or early summer when they set off to find mates and establish new colonies. They are usually seen in large swarms lasting for a short period of time, typically just a few hours. After landing, swarmers discard their wings.

How do I get rid of flying termites?

Flying termites (or swarmers) are poor flyers that only stay in the air for a short time. The best way to get rid of them is to wait for them to land and vacuum them up. Spraying swarmers with an over-the-counter aerosol is also an option, but doing so may result in a difficult-to-clean mess.

However, simply getting rid of flying termites is not your main concern. Treat their presence as a warning sign of a potential termite infestation and contact the experts at MMPC (or a local pest control company in your area) for an inspection.
