When Animals Get In

Animals constantly test the exterior of your building. Once they break through a soffit or roof vent, they rip apart insulation to build nests, chew on live electrical wires, and leave disease-carrying droppings. Handling them legally requires a licensed professional.

Signs of Wildlife Indoors

You will hear heavy scratching or thumping in your ceiling or walls. Outside, look for torn vent screens and chewed roof trim. If birds are nesting in your vents, secondary pests like bird mites and carpet beetles will often migrate down into your living space.

Professional Wildlife Removal

Wildlife control requires a complete approach. We extract the adult animals, safely remove any babies, clean the affected areas, and seal the structural gaps to prevent future issues.

Humane Trapping and Removal

We use live-capture traps to humanely remove wild animals in strict compliance with NYSDEC regulations. Instead of guessing, we place these traps directly along known travel paths and monitor them regularly to ensure the animal is removed safely and quickly.

Exclusion

Trapping removes the animal, but exclusion keeps it out. We replace torn vent screens, repair chewed roof trim, and reinforce vulnerable soffits with heavy-duty, chew-proof materials. Our technicians handle the necessary carpentry and repairs, ensuring the nest is completely clear before permanently sealing the entry points.

Disinfecting

An animal leaves behind ruined insulation, feces, and urine. We remove the nesting debris and treat the entire area with professional-grade disinfectants to kill bacteria and eliminate the odor.

Bird Control

Pigeons, starlings, and sparrows quickly turn fire escapes and balconies into unsanitary roosting sites. The acidity in their droppings physically corrodes building materials over time. We clear the active nests, remove the waste, and install physical deterrents so they can’t land there anymore.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between “Animal Control” and “Wildlife Control”?

We get asked this a lot, especially from clients dealing with a wildlife problem for the first time. The key difference is where the animal is (in your home versus in a public area). Anytime you encounter a wild animal on your own private property, you should call wildlife control.

Animal control is a public service, typically run by a government agency, that deals with:

  • Lost or stray pets (usually dogs and cats)
  • Sick or injured wildlife believed to have rabies
  • Aggressive wildlife causing an immediate danger
  • Dead wildlife in public areas

Wildlife control is a private service, performed by licensed professionals, that deals with:

  • Wild animals nesting or denning in your home
  • Wild animals causing damage to private property
  • Dead wildlife on private property
Can I remove wildlife myself?

We never recommend removing wildlife yourself for several reasons. First and foremost, it is not safe. Wild animals can bite or scratch if cornered, and often carry bacteria and parasites that cause diseases. Second, improper removal methods may violate local laws or regulations, and can be inhumane to the animal. Finally, do-it-yourself methods are often ineffective at addressing the root cause of wildlife problems, leading to the animal returning.

What should I do if I find a baby animal?

Leave it alone! In most cases, the mother is likely nearby. Wildlife control services can help reunite mothers with their young if necessary.

Is wildlife removal covered by insurance?

In most cases, homeowner’s insurance won’t cover wildlife removal. However, it might cover damage caused by wildlife, depending on your specific policy.

How much do wildlife removal services cost?

The cost of wildlife removal varies based on your location, the severity of the problem, and the scope of services required. Please contact us for a customized quote.
